Who is Collecting Your Information
Publix and its affiliates are the sole owners of the information collected; we will not sell, share, rent or loan this information to any third party. However, we may use and share aggregated information that does not personally identify you with third parties in order to improve the site for our users.
What is Collected, and How Do We Use It
You can visit our Web site without providing any personal data to us. However, our site does include forms where the following information is requested:
Your business contact details (such as your name, company, address and
alternate contact) – to help us respond to your business inquiry
company’s basic background information (such as areas of focus, history and
gross annual sales) – to help us forward your information to the appropriate
department and to better understand your company’s capabilities and product
- Information associated with certain electronic documents - to help you
pre-qualify for potentially participating in a category review and/or
conducting business with us
We collect additional information about how you use and access our Web site. This information enables us to improve the site by making it more accessible and easier to navigate.
We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer our Web site, track customer site navigation and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.
We will share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person. Publix may use your profile information to create personalized content, offers, services, and advertising, but this information will only be used by Publix and its affiliates. Publix and its affiliates may release information when required to do so by law (for example, under a subpoena, court order or other regulatory requirement).
Our site includes secured connections where users enter registration details. This means that information is encrypted before it is sent over the Internet between your computer and Publix computers. The technology used is called Secure Socket Layer (SSL). Your information is encrypted on your computer, sent through the Internet as jumbled code and decoded on Publix's secure server. You can verify that the connection is secure because you will see a key or a padlock at the bottom of your browser. Another identifier of a secure connection is the URL (or Web site address); the address will change from
http://purchasing.publix.com to https://purchasing.publix.com when a secure connection is in place. Once your information arrives at Publix, your information is stored in an encrypted file on a computer that is physically separated from the site's Internet connection by a firewall. This firewall is designed to protect information from unauthorized viewing, stealing or access.
Online Survey and Contests
From time to time, Publix or its affiliates may conduct online surveys that ask you for demographic data, such as your ZIP code, age or income level. Publix or Publix's agents may also contact you by telephone with the option to participate in other consumer research studies. Participation in any survey or other consumer research is always voluntary. Publix aggregates the responses we receive before using the information to improve the products and services we offer. We do not link your individual responses to your personal information at any time.
Publix may also offer contests that ask for some personal information, such as names and e-mail addresses, so that we can contact winners. All of these contests follow applicable federal and state laws. We will clearly post the rules and terms of each contest on our Web site.
Protection of Privacy of Children Younger than 13
Publix does not target children under the age of 13 and does not expect to sell any of its products or services to children.
